Board Book, 34 Pages, Ages 1-4 Years
This delightful, rhyming board book about bugs and bug behavior in your own backyard world will have kids and adults alike buzzing with excitement.
Some Bugs will encourage exploration, a love of nature, and outdoor play.
Some Bugs is a simple board book that is colorful, a good size for small hands, and packed with simple information for toddlers that are fascinated by insects, and for those that are not, the illustrations could possibly win them over. The rhyming repeats the action words at the end which is not only fun for kids, it’s early reading at its best.
Each page has a ladybug to find which helps develop observation skills. This book has accomplished this task with alacrity, as the ladybug has a role on each page, and is participating in the story, whether on purpose or completely by accident.
The illustrations are so engaging that even as an adult I had to stop and really examine each page. The colors, expressions, and layout of this book compliments the text and helps tell the simple story.
In this author’s opinion this book is extremely well executed. The expressions on the bugs’ faces, the rhyme and rhythm, the colorful display, and finally the early learning about wildlife and ecosystems. The final page in the book is a display of so many bugs on the page that you can’t help but sit and look and learn! This book gets a “Bravo!”
Some Bugs by Angela DiTerlizzi gets 5 stars from this reviewer.
